About Gallery Gorgon
![]() |
Aside
from its cyber identity, Gallery Gorgon exists as a real gallery in
the heart of New Orlean's Uptown Garden District. Nestled among the
antique stores and eclectic specialty shops of world renowned Magazine
Street, the gallery first opened its doors to the public in October
of 1999. Dedicated to the promotion and exposure of upcoming local New
Orleans artists, Gallery Gorgon is part of the tiny conglomeration of
McEleney Studios, the love and life work of artist Maggie McEleney,
whose work can be viewed on this sight.

Housed
on the second floor of a rowhouse that dates back to approximately the
time of the Civil War, Gallery Gorgon occupies 3 rooms, about 1100 sq.
feet of showing space. The rooms have 13 ft. ceilings and beautiful
hardwood floors, providing a striking atmosphere of light and space,
while maintaining a casual and inviting feeling of serenity. Aside from
the regularly featured artists, Gallery Gorgon exhibits the work of
outside artists, with shows rotating every 6-9 weeks.
